Andres Gombar was born in 1948 in Budapest, Hungary. He was exposed to art at a very early age through his father, an internationally renowned graphic artist, and his sister, a costume designer for the Gybr Ballet Company. Gombar's exposure to art led him to the two dimensional world of painting. Inspired by realism he later began to paint with oil on panel. He developed an acute perception for tone values, shapes and colors capturing reflections within his subject matter. Through his keen power of observation, Gombar captures the nobility in the simplicity of the everyday and convincingly renders an almost palpable space in his canvases.
